Saint Nicholas of Japan, Equal to the Apostles
Born Ivan Kasatkin in 1836, felt called to missionary work in Japan, where he worked tirelessly to spread the Orthodox faith. He translated many religious texts into Japanese, established a seminary, and built the Cathedral of the Resurrection in Tokyo. Despite facing opposition, including during the Russo-Japanese War, Saint Nicholas continued his mission with great humility and was canonized for his efforts in establishing the Orthodox Church in Japan.
